Painting Renovation

After consultation with the contractor, it was decided to move the exterior painting in front of the parking lot work to avoid any over-spray problems.

Thanks to an opening with the painting contractor, the painting start date was August 13, 2001.

The first business was to choose the base and trim colors. After looking at the color samples, the renovation committee chose a few potential combinations and painted those on the wall for final choice.

With a final decision needing to be made by the next day, Bryan, using his Sunday best painting clothes provided some last minute base/trim options.

Finally, after several more minutes of discussion, the base/trim decisions were made and all we had to do was wait for the prep and painting to be done.

For those that helped scrape and paint the facilities the last time, a sigh of relief was given by all, knowing all the work would be done by the contractor!

Prior to painting, the contractor also filled in the back panels where the former sanctuary's windows used to be, providing St. Mark with a much better finish then before and one that would be stronger and more weather tight!

As one can imagine, there is a lot of prep work that needs to be completed before the first paint is sprayed on.

For this wall, many cracks had to be filled in and window sills prepared.

Although some parts are simply power washed for preparation, many areas, such as these windows take many hours to prepare.

Can anyone say, "Aren't we glad we aren't having to do this!" God has indeed blessed us with the necessary resources so that we could contract this work.

Throughout all the planning stages, whether for the roof or painting, Pastor Rod always expressed his strong desires to have either a blue roof or blue paint. We figured this was due to some deep studies while at the sem, but we are not sure.

However, during the paint preparations, he was surprised and pleased to find two spots of blue paint on the classroom wall. We are pleased to note that this has satisfied his blue requirements!

In the sunset light, the sanctuary shines with its new coat of paint.

The exterior painting was completed the last week of August.

As stated on several occasions, St. Mark has been very blessed at being able to contract the painting effort.

Just imagine the time required to prepare and paint the trim around the stain glass windows!

With the new paint on, the facilities has taken on a new glow and a cleaner look.

As members have arrived at church, many have commented on the huge difference this effort has made.

A few before and after pictures. Remember the Parish Hall's wall prior to the painting effort...

... or how about the kitchen windows?

The next painting plans are to paint the sanctuary's interior, beginning September 10th!

With the exterior painted, painting moved indoors to the sanctuary. After several weeks to review the colors, the congregation choose a color similar to the exterior.

The contractor quickly applied two coats of paint, with the results being quite impressive!
