What to Expect

To provide you with an appropriate expectation for St. Mark's services, Bible studies and other functions, we offer the following:

  • What time is Sunday School, Bible Study and Worship?
    • Sunday School: 8:45am
    • Adult Bible Study: 8:45am
    • Sunday Worship: 10:00am

  • What is a service like at St. Mark?
St. Mark has two styles of worship.  On the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of the month, we use a traditional, liturgical style of worship that includes Holy Communion. On the 2nd and 4th Sundays, we worship through singing contemporary songs led by our praise band, Jubilant Grace. No matter which service style you attend, you will be given an easy to follow worship bulletin when you arrive.

  • What should I wear to church at St. Mark?
Whatever you feel comfortable in! You can wear your "Sunday best" or your favorite Hawaiian shirt; it's up to you!

  • How long does the worship service last?
A typical service lasts about an hour.

  • What is Holy Communion? Can my family and I participate in this part of the service?
At St. Mark, we celebrate Holy Communion on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of each month. We welcome all those baptised Christians who have received instruction in our communion beliefs and practices to our Communion table.

We believe that Communion (Also called the Lord's Supper or the Eucharist) is a "means of grace", one of the many ways by which God delivers His grace and forgiveness to us.  In order to help you prepare to receive Holy Communion, we suggest you examine yourself using the following questions:
    1. Do I believe that I am a sinful human being?
    2. Am I sorry for my sins?
    3. Do I believe Jesus died and rose again for my sins?
    4. Do I intend, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to live a godly life?
    5. Do I believe the true body and blood of Jesus are received with the bread and wine on Holy Communion?

If you have any questions about participating in Holy Communion, please talk to Pastor Nick.

  • Is there a nursery or other activities for small childeren?
St. Mark encourages parents to bring their children to worship each week.  In fact, St. Mark has a special Children's Message each Sunday during the worship service.  However, St. Mark does have an unstaffed nursery where parents can take their children, if necessary.

  • Will I be expected to give money?
St. Mark does not require anyone to give money for participating in the worship.  Members of St. Mark are encouraged to financially support the ministries of St. Mark out of grateful recognition that all we have is a gift from God.
